About MIWIFI Repair Tool

MIWIFI Repair Tool is the official hardware recovery utility developed by Xiaomi Inc. for its vast lineup of networking hardware. It serves as an indispensable rescue software for users and network engineers whose Xiaomi and Redmi routers encounter severe boot failures, bricked firmware states, constant flashing orange or solid red LED indicators, or failed open-source firmware installations (OpenWrt, ImmortalWrt, Padavan, etc.).

Key Features

  • Emergency Router Unbrick & Recovery: Rescues unresponsive routers stuck in boot loops or solid orange/red LED states that can no longer access the default gateway at 192.168.31.1.
  • Integrated TFTP Server Protocol: Automatically initializes a dedicated TFTP recovery server on your local PC, streaming official stock binary ROM packages (.bin) directly into the router’s SPI/NAND flash memory via Ethernet.
  • Network Adapter Auto-Detection: Allows precise selection of the physical Ethernet NIC connected directly to the router’s LAN interface.
  • Complete Factory State Restoration: Reinstates pure official manufacturer firmware while safeguarding RF calibration parameters and factory MAC addresses.
  • Broad Hardware Model Coverage: Supports a wide spectrum of Xiaomi & Redmi routers, including Mi Router 3, 3G, 4, 4A Gigabit, AC2100, AX5, AX6, AX1800, AX3000, AX3600, AX6000, AX9000, and WiFi 7 BE series.

Step-by-Step Recovery Guide

  1. Download and extract the MIWIFI Repair Tool archive to a clean folder.
  2. Download the official stock firmware binary file (.bin) tailored specifically for your router model from the Xiaomi support portal.
  3. Temporarily disable Windows Firewall and third-party antivirus suites to prevent interference with TFTP transmission packets.
  4. Connect an Ethernet cable directly from your PC’s network port to one of the router’s LAN ports (do not plug into the WAN port).
  5. Right-click MIWIFIRepairTool.x86.exe and select Run as administrator.
  6. Configure the utility interface:
    • Browse and select your target stock firmware .bin file.
    • Select the active physical Ethernet Network Interface Card currently wired to the router.
    • Click Next to start the local distribution server.
  7. Unplug the router’s power cable. Press and hold the physical Reset button using a pin, then plug the power adapter back in while keeping the button depressed.
  8. Hold the Reset button for 5 to 8 seconds until the router indicator LED begins blinking orange, then release the button.
  9. The software will detect the handshake and upload the firmware. The transmission takes roughly 2 to 3 minutes.
  10. Once the router LED transitions to blinking green (or solid blue/green depending on hardware model), the flash is complete. Power cycle the router to boot into the fresh stock OS.

Important Technical Tips

  • Always perform flashing over a direct, wired Ethernet patch cable; wireless flashing is strictly unsupported.
  • If automatic discovery fails, manually assign a static IP to your PC Ethernet adapter (e.g., IP: 192.168.31.2, Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0).
