About SN Writer Tool (MediaTek IMEI & Serial Number Writer)

SN Writer Tool (commonly referred to as SN Write Tool) is an indispensable maintenance application developed by MediaTek Inc. It enables technicians and advanced users to write, restore, and configure vital device identification parameters—including single/dual/multi IMEI numbers, Serial Numbers, Wi-Fi MAC addresses, Bluetooth MAC addresses, barcodes, and DRM keys—directly into the NVRAM partition of MediaTek-powered smartphones and tablets.

Key Features

  • Restore & Repair Invalid IMEI: Permanently resolve issues such as IMEI Null, Unknown Baseband, or Invalid IMEI caused by accidental partition wiping (Format All + Download) or corrupt firmware flashes.
  • Fix Wi-Fi & Bluetooth MAC Addresses: Eliminates persistent network warnings like NVRAM WARNING: ERR 0x10 in the Wi-Fi scan list and restores lost Bluetooth pairing capabilities.
  • Serial Number & Barcode Programming: Re-flash the factory serial identifier and product barcodes matching the phone’s hardware label.
  • Multi-Target Support: Operates smoothly across Smartphones, Feature Phones, and Tablets via Meta Mode, Fastboot, or Kernel COM port handshakes.
  • Database-Driven Architecture: Loads official modem database files (BPLGUInfo...) and application processor database files (APDB...) to ensure calibrated RF parameters and network compatibility.
  • Clean Portable Application: Standalone Windows executable requiring no installation overhead, compatible with Windows 7, 8, 10, and 11.

Basic Usage Guide

  1. Install the required MediaTek VCOM USB Drivers and CDC Serial Drivers on your PC.
  2. Extract the SN Writer Tool archive. Right-click SN Writer.exe and select Run as administrator.
  3. On the main screen, set ComPort to USB VCOM and Target Type to Smart Phone (or Feature Phone if flashing basic handsets).
  4. Click the System Config button:
    • Check the parameters you need to write: IMEI, BT Address, Wifi Address, etc.
    • In the Database File section, browse MD1_DB to the modem file (starts with BPLGUInfo...) and AP_DB to the AP file (starts with APDB...) located in your stock firmware package.
    • Click Save to confirm configuration.
  5. Click the Start button on the main dashboard.
  6. Enter the device’s original IMEI (and additional parameters) into the prompt dialog and click OK.
  7. Power off the handset completely. Without pressing any buttons, connect the phone to your computer via USB.
  8. The phone will boot into Meta Mode, and the tool will write parameters into NVRAM. Once a large green PASS indicator appears, unplug the device and reboot normally.

Important Notes

  • Restoring IMEI should only be executed to reinstate the original, legal IMEI number printed on the device label or purchase packaging.
  • Always ensure the selected MD1_DB and AP_DB files correspond precisely to the firmware version installed on the handset.
